P2 MASKS AND THEIR EFFICIENCY AGAINST ENVIRONMENTAL ALLERGENS

Masks are today a global necessity, but with vaccines proving their efficacy, more countries are doing without face masks. But with the pandemic coming back in waves, most governments are returning to imposing mask regulations on their public. But wearing masks should be a regular practice, not just for Covid-19. The government recommended the P2 mask with particulate respirators to effectively combat the virus. But masks are also effective against various other allergens present in the environment. The recent bushfire in Australia also led to many people opting to wear masks. Several brands like PPE Tech came up to cater to these demands for p2 masks. This mask proves maximum efficacy against even minute particles, making it the best option among other masks.

The government has several guidelines regarding the wearing of masks and its regulation in various industrial workspaces. While there are other Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) that people can and should use, the P2 facemask is the bare minimum to ensure maximum protection against germs and pollution.

WHY P2 MASKS?

Most pollutants and germs are minuscule, and regular facemasks may not stop their entry into the nasal passage as people breathe. The P2 face mask has a particulate respirator to filter out the most minute particles in the environment, allowing only clean air to pass through.

The P2 mask also has various layers to filter the air people breathe. The P2 face masks from PPE Tech have four layers that offer 98% particle filtration, which is a higher rate than most models. The layers allow for effortless breathing while ensuring particle-free air. This respirator also filters out particles in smoke and other pollutants from emissions present in the environment.

HOW TO WEAR A P2 MASK PROPERLY?

While P2 masks offer maximum efficacy, people should also pay attention to how they wear them. The facemask must form a compact seal around the lower half of the face, ensuring no gaps or air leaks. The mask’s elastic loops should fit snugly against the ears for a complete seal. People with beards and small children might find it hard to create the compact sealing with the mask, but ensuring as perfect a fit as possible is essential.

Conducting a P2 Mask Fit Check

The first step is to actually remove all obstructions to mask-wearing like earrings, long hair, glasses, etc. Tie back long hair and remove earrings before trying a fit check. The next step is to secure the loops or fasten the straps, depending on the style of the mask.

After ensuring a tight enough securing, the next step is to fasten the nose clip. People should position the nose clip on the nose bridge and clamp down for a close fit across the nose. They can readjust or reposition the mask to fit them better and press the nose clip more firmly.

Now, they have to check for a complete seal by breathing in deeply. When taking a breath, the mask should get sucked in with every breath. If there is no sucking in, people should readjust until it sucks inward with every breath they take. If they can’t make a complete seal, people should opt for a different size. Additionally, beards stop the mask from completely sealing around the face, and cannot offer maximum protection, no matter the size people choose.

Masks will soon become a part of everyone’s daily outdoor lives, and people should try their best to get accustomed to them. Wearing masks even after the pandemic is advisable, as other pollutants and allergens still exist in the air people breathe. People concerned about health and well-being should plan to adopt masks full time when they go out.
